Stay of proceedings

A temporary halt or suspension of legal actions or court proceedings, ordered by a court or by agreement of the parties. In insurance litigation, a stay might be granted to allow for mediation, arbitration, or the resolution of a related matter. It can postpone discovery, trials, or other procedural steps, providing time for negotiation or further investigation.
