The actual exposure to loss that an insurer bears after accounting for all forms of risk transfer, such as reinsurance, co-insurance, or deductibles. This is the ultimate financial burden that the insurer is responsible for in the event of a covered claim. Managing net risk is central to an insurer's solvency and profitability.
