Nexus

A connection or link between two or more things, such as an event and a resulting loss, or between an insured peril and the damage sustained. In insurance, establishing a clear nexus is necessary to determine coverage and liability. For example, a causal nexus must exist between a negligent act and the injury for a liability claim to be valid.
