Paid losses

The total amount of money that an insurer has disbursed to policyholders or third parties to settle claims for covered losses. This figure represents the actual cash outflow for claims that have been finalized and paid. Paid losses are a component of an insurer's financial statements and are used in calculating loss ratios and underwriting profitability.
