A specialized line of insurance for a niche group of policyholders with similar risk characteristics, underwritten by a managing general agent (MGA) on behalf of an insurer. The MGA has delegated underwriting authority and manages most of the administrative functions, including marketing, binding coverage, and issuing policies. Examples include insurance for specific professional associations, classic car collectors, or certain types of small businesses.
