Readjustment income

The portion of a life insurance settlement designated to support a surviving family during the period immediately following the insured's death. This income allows the family to manage immediate expenses and adapt to their new financial circumstances without drastic lifestyle changes. The readjustment period is distinct from the dependency period and is usually planned to last for one to two years.
