Reserved but not enough (RBNE)

A situation in insurance where the initial amount of money set aside by an insurer for a known claim is later determined to be insufficient to cover the actual cost of the loss. This indicates an underestimation of the claim's ultimate value, requiring an increase in the allocated reserve. RBNE is a component of the overall incurred but not reported (IBNR) reserve calculation.
