Return of remuneration exclusion

An exclusion in a directors and officers (D&O) liability insurance policy that denies coverage for claims seeking the return of remuneration, such as bonuses or stock options, that were improperly paid to an insured. This exclusion typically applies when the remuneration was obtained through fraud or in violation of securities laws. It prevents D&O insurance from covering the disgorgement of ill-gotten gains.
