Special acceptance

The process by which an underwriter agrees to provide coverage for a risk that falls outside the standard guidelines or requires specific conditions to be met. This decision is made on a case-by-case basis after a detailed evaluation of the unique characteristics of the proposed risk. A special acceptance is documented with specific terms, endorsements, or a higher premium to account for the increased or unusual exposure.
