Unusual or unique exposures to loss that fall outside the scope of standard insurance policies due to their nature, magnitude, or unpredictability. These risks often require specialized underwriting, customized policy wordings, or placement in the excess and surplus lines market. Examples include political risk, kidnap and ransom, or highly complex engineering projects.
