Third-party litigation fund

A financial entity or investment vehicle that provides capital to plaintiffs or law firms to cover the costs of litigation in exchange for a share of any eventual recovery. These funds operate independently of the parties involved in the legal dispute. They assume the risk of the litigation in return for a potentially high return on investment if the case is successful.
