Underwriting capacity

The maximum amount of risk an insurer or the insurance market as a whole is willing and able to assume for a given type of coverage. It is influenced by factors such as capital, surplus, reinsurance arrangements, and regulatory limits. Underwriting capacity dictates the volume and size of policies an insurer can write.
