Second surplus reinsurance

A form of proportional reinsurance where the reinsurer assumes a share of the risk that exceeds the capacity of the primary insurer and any first surplus treaty. This arrangement allows the primary insurer to retain a larger portion of the risk while ceding additional amounts to multiple reinsurers. It provides further capacity for large or volatile risks.
