Contributing excess
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-000958
A form of excess of loss cover in which several insurers or reinsurers each accept a stated share of the same layer above the ceding company's retention, and each pays that same percentage of any loss reaching the layer. For example, two reinsurers might each take half of a 2 million layer above a 500,000 retention, so each pays half of any loss in that layer.
