Excess limit

Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-001373

The amount of coverage provided by an excess insurance policy that sits above a primary policy's limits. This limit only becomes available once the underlying primary insurance has been exhausted by a claim. For example, a primary policy might cover up to $1 million, and an excess policy would then provide coverage for losses exceeding that amount, up to its own limit.
