Excess per risk reinsurance
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-001378
A type of non-proportional reinsurance where the reinsurer covers losses on an individual risk, such as a single building or policy, that exceed a specified retention amount. The ceding insurer retains all losses up to this predetermined limit for each risk and each loss event. This form of reinsurance protects the primary insurer from the financial impact of a single, large loss, as opposed to an accumulation of smaller losses from one event.
