Excess point

The specific monetary amount or attachment point at which an excess insurance policy or reinsurance treaty begins to cover losses. It represents the limit of the underlying insurance coverage or the ceding insurer's retention. Losses below this point are borne by the primary insurer or the insured, while losses above it are covered by the excess layer.
