Specific excess insurance

An excess insurance form that reimburses a self-insured employer or plan sponsor for any single claim or claimant whose cost exceeds a stated per-claim retention. It is common in self-insured workers' compensation programs and in medical stop-loss coverage for employers. It differs from aggregate excess insurance, which responds only when total losses for the whole period exceed an annual attachment point.
