Excess insurance (XS)

A type of insurance that provides coverage for losses that exceed the limits of an underlying primary insurance policy. It only responds after the primary policy has paid its full limit for a covered claim. Excess insurance is distinct from umbrella insurance, which can also provide broader coverage.
