Excess

Insurance coverage that sits above a primary layer of insurance, providing additional limits once the underlying policy's limits are exhausted. It does not provide coverage until the primary policy has paid its full limit for a covered loss. Excess insurance is often used for catastrophic losses or to meet high contractual insurance requirements.
