Reinsurance treaty
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-002859
A contract between a ceding insurance company and a reinsurer, where the reinsurer agrees to accept all risks within a predefined class or portfolio over a specified period. The ceding company is obligated to cede all policies that fall within the treaty's terms, and the reinsurer is obligated to accept them. This contrasts with facultative reinsurance, which is negotiated on a risk-by-risk basis.
