The specific point in time at which the value of an asset, liability, or entire portfolio is determined for accounting, reporting, or claims purposes. This date is used to establish the fair market value or other agreed-upon valuation basis for financial statements, insurance settlements, or pension fund calculations. For life insurance, it may refer to the date when policy reserves are calculated.
