Executive clemency

The power of a president or governor to pardon, commute sentences, or grant reprieves to individuals convicted of crimes. This discretionary power allows for mercy or fairness in specific cases, often after the judicial process has concluded. It can restore civil rights or reduce the severity of a punishment.
