A legal practitioner who represents parties in certain specialized courts, particularly admiralty and ecclesiastical courts. This role is similar to that of an attorney or solicitor in other legal contexts. In modern usage, the term is less common in general practice but may still refer to an attorney in specific jurisdictions or historical contexts.
