Suitability Rule

A regulatory standard requiring financial professionals, such as brokers and investment advisors, to recommend only those investments that are appropriate for a client's financial situation, investment objectives, and risk tolerance. This rule aims to protect investors from being placed into unsuitable products. The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) enforces suitability rules for broker-dealers.
