Self regulatory organization

An entity that exercises regulatory authority over an industry or profession, often under the oversight of a government agency. These organizations create and enforce rules for their members to protect investors and maintain market integrity. Examples include the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) for broker-dealers and the National Futures Association (NFA) for the derivatives industry.
