Self-repealing clause

A provision within a statute or regulation that specifies a future date or condition upon which the entire law or a specific part of it will automatically cease to be in effect. This mechanism is often used for temporary measures or experimental legislation. It eliminates the need for subsequent legislative action to terminate the law.
