Self-dealing

A transaction in which a fiduciary acts in their own interest rather than in the best interest of their principal. This conduct can arise in corporate governance when a director or officer enters into a contract with the corporation they serve. Such transactions are subject to strict scrutiny to prevent conflicts of interest and are regulated by corporate law statutes.
