Self-defense

The right to use reasonable force, including deadly force, to protect oneself or others from an immediate threat of harm, injury, or death. This is a legal justification for actions that would otherwise be considered criminal. The amount of force used must be proportionate to the perceived threat, and the belief of danger must be reasonable under the circumstances.
