Deadly force

Force that is likely to cause death or serious bodily injury. Law enforcement officers are generally permitted to use deadly force only when they reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent death or serious bodily injury to themselves or others. The use of deadly force is subject to strict legal scrutiny and constitutional limitations.
