Justification

A defense in criminal law where a defendant admits to committing an act that would otherwise be a crime but argues that the act was necessary or permissible under the circumstances. This defense asserts that the act was not wrongful, such as in cases of self-defense or defense of others. It differs from an excuse, which focuses on the defendant's blameworthiness.
