Battery energy storage system (BESS)

A facility that stores electrical energy in rechargeable batteries for later use, often connected to a power grid or integrated into a microgrid. These systems manage power fluctuations, provide backup power, and support renewable energy integration. BESS units are rated by their power capacity in megawatts (MW) and energy capacity in megawatt-hours (MWh).
