Absolute extremes

The highest or lowest values of a meteorological variable ever recorded at a particular location over its entire period of record. These values represent the ultimate maximum or minimum observed for elements such as temperature, precipitation, or wind speed. Absolute extremes provide a historical benchmark for climatic variability.
