Blowing dust

Dust or sand particles lifted from the ground by wind to heights of two meters or more, reducing horizontal visibility. This phenomenon occurs in arid and semi-arid regions when strong winds act on dry, loose soil. Visibility can be reduced to less than one kilometer during severe blowing dust events.
