Centigrade temperature scale

An older name for the Celsius temperature scale, where the interval between the freezing and boiling points of water is divided into 100 degrees. The term 'centigrade' literally means '100 grades' or '100 divisions'. While still understood, 'Celsius' is the officially recognized name for this scale in scientific and international contexts.
