Chart plotting

The manual or automated process of transcribing meteorological observations onto a weather map using standardized symbols and codes. This practice allows meteorologists to visualize the spatial distribution of atmospheric variables such as temperature, pressure, wind, and precipitation. Surface and upper-air charts are regularly plotted to analyze current weather conditions and forecast future developments.
