Plotting model
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010672
A standardized graphical convention for displaying multiple weather observations from a single station on a synoptic chart. The model arranges data points around a central circle representing the station's location, with specific positions designated for temperature, dew point, wind direction and speed, atmospheric pressure, and cloud cover. This compact arrangement permits meteorologists to quickly interpret the state of the atmosphere across a wide geographic area from a single map.
