Analysis

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003494

A detailed map or chart representing the state of the atmosphere at a specific time, created by plotting and interpreting meteorological data. Observations from surface stations, weather balloons, satellites, and radar are assimilated and displayed as isopleths of pressure (isobars), temperature (isotherms), and other variables. The resulting synoptic analysis depicts the location and intensity of pressure systems, fronts, and other features, serving as the starting point for a weather forecast.
