Station continuity chart

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009221

A graphical or tabular record documenting the operational history of a meteorological observing station. It details changes over time, including instrumentation upgrades, modifications to the station's immediate surroundings, changes in observation schedules, and shifts in location. This metadata is used in data homogenization procedures to identify and correct for non-climatic biases, such as an artificial temperature jump caused by moving a sensor.
