Continuity
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004646
The principle in fluid dynamics stating that mass is conserved within a moving fluid, meaning that fluid cannot be created or destroyed. In meteorology, this is applied to air parcels, implying that changes in air density or velocity in one region must be compensated by changes elsewhere. The continuity equation mathematically expresses this conservation of mass.
