Conservation of energy

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004604

A fundamental physical principle stating that the total energy within an isolated system remains constant over time, though it may transform from one form to another. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only converted. In atmospheric science, this principle applies to processes like the conversion of potential energy to kinetic energy in storms.
