Mass balance

An accounting principle stating that the total mass of a substance within a defined system remains constant over time, unless it enters or leaves the system. This concept is applied to track the movement and transformation of atmospheric constituents, such as pollutants or water vapor, within a specific volume. It is a fundamental tool in atmospheric modeling and budget calculations.
