Atmospheric water budget
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003692
An accounting of the inputs, outputs, and storage of water within a defined volume of the atmosphere. The budget balances the inflow of water vapor from evaporation and advection against the outflow from precipitation and advection, with the change in atmospheric storage accounting for any difference. For a globally averaged budget over a long period, total evaporation must equal total precipitation.
