Atmospheric wave
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003693
A disturbance that propagates through the atmosphere, transferring energy without necessarily transporting matter over long distances. These waves can manifest as oscillations in pressure, temperature, wind speed, or density. Examples include sound waves, gravity waves, Rossby waves, and Kelvin waves, each characterized by distinct restoring forces and scales of motion.
