Progressive wave

A wave that transfers energy through a medium by propagating its disturbance in a specific direction. In the atmosphere, examples include sound waves, gravity waves, and Rossby waves, which move through the air or along interfaces. Unlike standing waves, progressive waves do not remain in a fixed position.
