Atmospheric window
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003694
A range of wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum where the atmosphere is relatively transparent to radiation, allowing it to pass through with minimal absorption or scattering. These windows are primarily found in the visible and infrared regions, enabling remote sensing of the Earth's surface and atmosphere. The main infrared window is between 8 and 13 micrometers.
