Atmospheric transport

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003691

The movement of air and the substances it contains, such as heat, moisture, pollutants, and aerosols, over distances ranging from local to global scales. This process is driven by atmospheric circulation patterns, including winds, convection, and turbulence. The long-range transport of pollutants like sulfur dioxide can lead to the formation of acid rain hundreds or thousands of kilometers from the original source.
