Tracer

A substance or property used to track the movement or transformation of air masses, water, or other environmental components. Tracers can be natural atmospheric constituents, such as specific isotopes or pollutants, or artificially introduced substances. Their distribution and concentration changes provide insights into atmospheric transport and mixing processes.
