A substance added to drilling fluid in small, detectable quantities to track its movement or identify its source. Tracers can be used to detect lost circulation zones, monitor fluid invasion into formations, or determine the origin of produced fluids. Common tracers include radioactive isotopes, fluorescent dyes, or specific chemical compounds.
