Multiple-isotope spectroscopy
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002490
A method of analysing the gamma-ray energy spectrum recorded by a downhole detector to separate the contributions of several radioactive tracer isotopes, each identified by its own characteristic gamma energies. It makes a multiple-isotope survey possible, because tracers injected together can be told apart and located separately in one logging pass. Tracers of this kind include iodine-131, scandium-46 and iridium-192.
